Ryan has education, or training in the following types of mental health therapy. He stated that he uses an integrated approach which means he uses all of them depending on the client’s individual needs. These therapy techniques are: Stages of Change, Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, 12-step model, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Narrative Therapy, psychoeducation and Gestalt Therapy. He has experience working with children 8-17, and adults.
After scheduling the first appointment will be an overall mental health assessment. At this appointment paperwork will include informed consent, confidentiality laws, and all information you would need to determine if you fit criteria for services and what kind. The next session will be a treatment planning session of what you would like to work on and how Ryan thinks he can work best with you on those issues. Counseling is a professional relationship. He can only help you as far as you allow him to help you. Honesty, open-mindedness and willingness are essential to therapy. He attempts to encourage this by "literally" openly expressing his past on his arms (as seen in photos), chest, shoulders and an entire back piece that is his own depiction of what his own battles have been like with all of his own trauma, addictions, and mental health.
Some of the areas that Ryan has experience and training treating are: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Abuse (Emotional, Physical and Sexual), ADD/ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Family Issues, Bi-Polar Disorder, Complex or single episode Trauma and many others.
